“Rushes” by Frank Ocean
Shults: The lyrics, “Twin peaking, highs and lows,” that’s love. That’s going through the highs and lows of love and everything in between in a partnership. It just felt so right. That song was actually not in the initial script. It came in post, and it’s one of those happy times where you lay in a track and you go, “Whoa, this is magic, it’s all syncing together.” It crescendos as they’re about to go on this hard journey, and to let them have this last beautiful moment together felt really nice to me, to help each other in this terrible time before things start really going off the rails. I love that song so much.
