“Sound & Color” by Alabama Shakes
Shults: First, Waves is literally sound and color working together in tandem. But also the lyrics, “A new world hangs.” We go through a lot in this movie emotionally, but I hope you feel some hope at the end of it and that it feels earned. It’s a very hard road looking forward, but all the characters are trying to progress, get passed this very dark stuff, and heal with this grief as much as possible. To me it feels like a beautiful and uplifting final note to end on, but one that’s earned after everything we’ve been through.
