Shults: Waves is an American movie. It’s specific to America and it’s contemporary. It’s easy to beat that stuff over the head, but the song it about movement both in lyrics and beat: “From the east, to the west.” I just want to give it a nod and it was also fitting with the movement, and fitting this journey with what’s happening to them that night.
