BAMcinemaFest

Housed at the majestic Rose Cinemas at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, BAMcinemafest’s trend-setting annual indie film showcases are the cream of the crop in a city with obviously stiff competition. “When I was there in 2014, I met David Byrne of The Talking Heads at the opening night party. He actually came to see my movie and stayed for the Q&A!,” exclaims a panelist. Chance encounters with such cultural icons might not happen every year, but with high-profile New York premieres of films by Sean Baker, Andrew Bujalski, Lena Dunham, Mark and Jay Duplass, Richard Linklater, and Nicolas Winding Refn, BAM’s constellation of auteur attendees ensures you’ll be in good company nonetheless.
