Rooftop Films

Summer 2018 / New York, NY / rooftopfilms.com

Artistic Director Dan Nuxoll’s creative screening series typically plays out on NYC rooftops, at the beach on Coney Island, or as is the case this year, at weird and wonderful national landmarks like Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery. Rooftop Films is “sure to be on everyone’s ‘coolest’ list,” says a panelist. “It’s especially fun when it starts raining and you get to which audience members, and which films, will stand up to the weather. I enjoyed getting buckets-worth of water dumped on me from the sky throughout a documentary screening of Weiner.” As Rooftop ups the ante of its eclectic locales year over year—Brooklyn Army Terminal! William Vale Hotel! New Design High School! Old American Can Factory!—live music acts and lit after-parties further enrich its travelogue-as-film-festival ambitions.
