Number 9: ‘The Contest’
It’s possibly the quintessential Seinfeld episode. If you ask somebody to name an episode of the show, there’s a solid chance it will be “The Contest.” It was bold, for the time.
After George has a disturbing encounter with his mother, involving a Glamour magazine, he vows to be the “master of his domain.” All four of the main characters enter a contest to see who can go the longest without indulging in self-gratification.
This also includes the great moment Kramer announces, “I’m out!”
