And The Best Seinfeld Episode Is… ‘The Opposite’
The fifth-season finale of Seinfeld is also its best episode.
George decides his new philosophy in life will be to do the opposite of his instincts. It gets him a date and, memorably, a job with the New York Yankees.
Meanwhile, Elaine loses her boyfriend over Jujyfruits — and also her job. She becomes, in her words, George. The two flip places, if only briefly.
On top of that, Jerry is appropriately identified as an “even Steven,” where everything balances out. It’s a bit meta, but not overly navel gazing. It’s the best Seinfeld episode, which is as good as sitcoms get.
