Play Misty for Me (1971)
Clint plays Dave Garver, a radio disc jockey in lovely Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, a town Eastwood would become the mayor of a few years later. He meets a woman named Evelyn Draper (Jessica Walter) who turns out to be the mysterious caller who often phones into his show to request the old standard “Misty.”
But Evelyn soon gets obsessive, even turning her attention to Dave’s ex, Tobie (Donna Mills).
This is a must-watch for Eastwood fans: Not only is it his directorial debut, set in a town with lots of meaning for him, but it features his frequent director Don Siegel in an acting role. Clint also has really good ’70s hair in it.
