I Lost My Body (Netflix)
This is not the kind of animated film you’ll find on Disney+ — or really anywhere else. The French flick, nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year’s Oscars, is an utterly unique film, a soulful meditation on belonging, purpose, and dreams… told in part from the perspective of a severed hand.
I Lost My Body mixes beautiful animation with a bittersweet story about loneliness and missed opportunities. It’s not exactly a downer, though — there are a lot of clever little moments scattered throughout and a very satisfying ending.
