4. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury in Thor)
Jackson — recipient of an honorary Oscar this year — pops up at the end of Thor to tie the film into the greater MCU vis-a-vis the Infinity Stones narrative that culminates in Avengers: Endgame. As Nick Fury, Jackson plays it cool — the knock on Jackson is that sometimes he plays things too cool — but don’t confuse his stoicism for a wooden performance. Fury is the glue holding the MCU together, and can’t afford to get all emotional.
