Hostel (2006)
Speaking of torture: Eli Roth’s follow up to Cabin Fever follows two college guys (Jay Hernandez and Derek Richardson) who can’t believe their lucky when they meet two beautiful young women (Barbara Nedeljáková and Jana Kaderabkova, above) on a trip to Slovakia.
Unfortunately, the women work for Elite Hunters, a group that kidnaps tourists and sells off the right to abuse and kill them to wealthy, demented clients. Hostel upset a lot of people, but we hold that it’s worth a watch for the dark, witty social commentary about the sickness of valuing some lives above others.
It was also a massive hit that inspired many lesser horror movies.
