Palm Springs International ShortFest 2019: 13 Moviemakers On The Joys and Perils of Making Short Films

“The Christmas Gift”

In this huge world of short films, the scariest thing is that there are so many good ones out there. You must compete against thousands to manage to get in a big venue and that is terrifying because only sheer luck will get your film on a festival’s short list. Of course, after the film gets selected to an important festival, the path turns smoother and the chances to be noticed are higher. It takes a lot of patience and courage but most of all it takes a lot of passion to be able to go on until, hopefully sooner than later, the film develops a life of its own. It is all in the eyes of the viewers. —Bogdan Muresanu, director
