The biggest challenge in making “Summer Hit” was the casting. The film is about a young Spanish woman and a Scandinavian guy meeting during their study abroad year in Germany. We had a tight budget and weren’t able to actually go to those countries and look for our cast. Thankfully, we had a Berlin based casting director, Lisa Stutzky, helping us out. Together, we scanned all agencies and acting schools in Spain and all over Scandinavia. I then conducted castings via Skype. When we finally found our two leads, we flew them in for the shoot without ever having been able to see them together. Luckily, it all worked out and they had great chemistry. —Berthold Wahjudi, director
