“Brother, Move On”

“Brother, Move On” is a short documentary about Geeta Kumari, a young female taxi driver in Delhi. The language barrier was the biggest challenge for me. Rangoli Agarwal, the female cinematographer, became a translator out of necessity. The film required a lot of intuition on Valérie Sauvin’s part, who conducted the interviews in English, and on me to ask the right questions at the right moment.

Back in Zurich I had all the raw material translated and then edited the film with the subtitles myself. It took a while until I got a feeling for the language and dared to not only to rely on the subtitles, because what is told between the lines is often more important. —Antshi von Moos, director
