Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
An officer in Immortan Joe’s army, Imperator Furiosa figures strongly in Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller’s 2015 reimagining of the film franchise he started in 1979.
Furiosa defects from Immortan Joe’s army in order to free Joe’s sex slaves, the Five Wives. She ends up teaming up with Max Rockatansky, played by Tom Hardy. Known for her shaved head and her mechanical left arm, she drives the War Rig on her way to take the Five Wives to the safety of the Green Place where she grew up.
In May, Furiosa will get her own prequel film — Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the role from Theron.
