Viola Davis as Nanisca in The Woman King (2022)
Based on a real all-female warrior tribe that protected the Dahomey kingdom of West Africa from the 1600s to the 1800s. The Woman King stars Viola Davis as Nanisca, leader of the Agojie warrior women.
Nanisca is fierce, stern, and an excellent fighter. In preparation for an upcoming war, she begins training a new group of young women warriors.
Nanisca herself is incredibly tough, having been captured as a young woman and abused. But all of her experience has only made her stronger.
