Pietro Marcello’s Jack London adaptation about a young ship hand who becomes intoxicated by a wealthy crowd won the Toronto International Film Festival’s Platform Prize. The principal photography was shot on 16mm, with archival inserts that are “remixed” in a way that feels pointedly modern.
