Our background is in theater, so you don’t need to know about where to put the camera in theater, because actually the audience chooses what to look for themselves. The hardest thing I think was to work out that as a director of film you have the full responsibility of choosing where an audience will look and why. I hadn’t realized until I started making the film that where you put the camera says something completely different depending on where it is. That’s a huge responsibility. You don’t have that sort of responsibility in theater. In film you can tie yourself in knots thinking about this, because you could put the camera anywhere. That’s something that going forward to the next film I’ll really be thinking about a lot.

Do you know of all the organizations that tried to push for a fighter union have there been, and how many still exist? Are they collaborating or competing with each other? I have no idea what the actual laws around independent contract work are, despite doing this for over 10 years ?
