There are so many lessons, but I think the collaborative nature of independent film was the biggest one. I come from a world where it’s easy to worship the directors, but once you are in the midst of making a film you really do depend on everyone joining you in the venture, and they all contribute, they all are talented. Seeing the way a team works to make a vision happen is something that I still reflect on and look forward to doing again.

Do you know of all the organizations that tried to push for a fighter union have there been, and how many still exist? Are they collaborating or competing with each other? Seems like these guys are farther along in the process than all other attempts. As an independent contractor myself, this is kind of interesting. I have no idea what the actual laws around independent contract work are, despite doing this for over 10 years ?
