But his skill at embodying men in noble pain actually makes him ideal as The Hulk — a heroic creature driven by rage and a lack of self-control. When he first runs into Thor, he seems like a captive animal, looking for love and kindness, which is exactly what he is. Ruffalo is able to convey this even vis-a-vis extensive CGI.
