You’re always learning. In some ways I feel like I’m being paid to go to grad school. I never took moviemaking classes in college. When I was preparing to make my first film, I revisited all of my favorite movies with the commentary track on. I knew we wouldn’t have much money to make MacGruber, so I’d rewatch films like Robert Rodriguez’ El Mariachi to learn how they put together their special effects. I’m still learning.
