I like to have a set that feels comfortable, and that we’re all coming from a place of love and an understanding of how difficult things will be, because every project is difficult. Even with the biggest piece of shit, people took an incredible amount of time and energy to make it, so you might as well have a good time. I think if anyone were to watch the making of an amazing indie film like Swiss Army Man, that should be your end goal, especially when making weirder, smaller movies. Do it with your friends, with people you trust and love that’ll be there for you. If you can do your art and still have that much fun doing it, that’s amazing. I try to do that regardless of the budget size.
