‘Pledge’ and ‘Donate’ Really Are Often Used Interchangeably

Vasquez hammered on Heard’s use of the word “pledge” to mean the same thing as a “donate,” arguing that to pledge is to make an empty promise of giving money, while to donate means to actually send money.

But the docuseries also shows evidence that the ACLU uses the words “Pledge” and “Donate” interchangeably. It also gives several examples of different news outlets’ headlines covering the same news, using the words “pledge” and “donate” to mean the same thing.
