Ned Beatty
Known for classic films including All the President’s Men and his stunning debut, Deliverance, Beatty could play cowards, yes men, good ol’ boys and corporate titans with equal commitment. He died on June 11 at 83. His run in the 1970s is especially impressive, and he appeared in more than 150 film and TV roles including Nashville (1975), Superman (1978), Back to School (1986), and Network (1976), in which he earned an Oscar nomination, in large part thanks to a blistering speech about how the world works.
