Sonny Chiba
The Japanese star, known for his martial arts prowess in films that became cult hits in the United States, gained wider recognition when fan Quentin Tarantino gave him a prominent role in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 as Hattori Hanzo, died on Aug. 18 of what his manager and friend, Timothy Beal, said was COVID-19, according to The New York Times. Chiba was 82.
