The opening shot of The Irishman seems to sardonically echo the famed Copacabana tracking shot of Goodfellas. But while the Goodfellas tracking shot shows the glamour of being a gangster, the opening Irishman tracking shot shows the loneliness of losing touch with your family because of a life of crime.
