Kane: A social worker who tries to help Joaquin Phoenix’s character, named Arthur Fleck, is named Kane. Bob Kane co-created both Batman and The Joker. The Joker’s first appearance was in Batman #1 in 1940; Batman appeared the year before in Detective Comics #27. It’s not a spoiler to tell you that Arthur Fleck eventually becomes The Joker.
