The Pole (Be warned that what follows contains a spoiler about whether Batman is referenced in the movie): When we meet young master Bruce Wayne, he’s sliding down a pole on a playground at Wayne Manor. It’s easy to take this as a cute allusion to the Batpole featured in the 1966 Batman TV series. If so, it’s one of the few things in Joker intended to charm rather than unnerve.
