The Thing

John Carpenter has made some classic scores himself — especially the unforgettable Halloween soundtrack — but even he made room for Morricone to join him for The Thing.

The masterful horror director enlisted Morricone for his horror sci-fi classic The Thing, and the film is terrifyingly punctuated by the menacing pulse of its main theme.

Though it is almost impossible to believe now, Morricone’s score was nominated for the 1983 Razzie. Truly an embarrassing nomination, in hindsight.
