This is the first installment in MovieMaker’s coverage of the 2013 Sundance Festival in Park City, Utah.
MovieMaker talks with director Alicia Scherson and star Manuela Martelli of the World Dramatic Competition feature The Future. Not to be confused with Miranda July’s 2011 The Future, co-starring July and Hamish Linklater, which also premiered at Sundance, Scherson’s The Future is a story of siblings orphaned in Italy when their Chilean immigrant parents die in a car accident. Scherson is from Chile herself, and based her film on Roberto Bolaño’s 2002 Una Novelita Lumpen.
Later, in the New York Film Office on Main Street, we chat with director Robert Stone and author Mark Lynas about their controversial nuclear energy documentary, Pandora’s Promise. MM
