humphrey bogartThe first weekend in May, 2013, fans of the cultural icon Humphrey Bogart—the man that the American Film Institute ranked as “the greatest male star in the history of American cinema”—can head down to the inaugural Humphrey Bogart Film Festival in Key Largo, Florida, and immerse themselves in four days of all things Bogart!

The festival will present classic Bogart films, as well as other noir masterpieces, in beautiful, exotic Key Largo—just as Bogie himself would have wanted it! Attendees can even ride the original boat used in the filming of the African Queen.

The inaugural event is hosted by Stephen Bogart, son of Humphrey and Lauren Bacall. And renowned film critic, Leonard Maltin, will be in attendance as the festival’s featured guest.

Guests will enjoy in-theater showings, as well as screenings held outdoors under the stars in Key Largo’s lovely subtropical climate. Bogart aficionados will also appreciate an exhibit of rare Bogart artifacts and memorabilia on display at festival headquarters.

The festival is scheduled to kick off the evening of Thursday, May 2, with a cocktail reception inside the Murray Nelson Cultural Center, followed by an outside, waterfront screening of Key Largo. The highlight of the festival is the Bogart Ball, planned for Saturday, May 4, at the Hilton Key Largo Resort.
