A Star Is Born (2018)

As the fourth musical version of this classic story, Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born stars him and Lady Gaga as rode-hard-and-put-away-wet country singer Jackson Mayne and fledgling starlet Ally.

Following in the footsteps of Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand, Lady Gaga shined bright in the role, catapulting her into a serious acting career on top of already being one of the world’s biggest pop stars of all time.

The song “Shallow” won the Oscar for best song in 2019, and the film — which this reporter loves and would watch again — was also nominated for best picture, as well as scoring best actor and actress nods for Cooper and Gaga.
