Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter

Who: Baltimore-based moviemaking duo. Collaborators for over a decade as Tiny Inventions, they’ve directed commercials, music videos, and shorts, including the Oscar-nominated “Negative Space.”

Their Big Break: “After studying animation, we worked at animation companies in New York. We didn’t have formal training before working on our first film, ‘Something Left, Something Taken,’ so we invented a process that worked for us. It’s important to remember that there’s no one way to find a story.”
