7 White Actors Who Will No Longer Voice POC Characters in Animation

Fox has announced The Simpsons will replace white actors who voice characters of color. In January, Hank Azaria said he would no longer voice South Asian character Apu, and Azaria and Harry Shearer have also stepped down from portraying Black characters Carl Carlson and Dr. Hibbert, respectively.

Alison Brie has expressed her regret for voicing Vietnamese-American character Diane Nguyen. The show ended in January, but Brie apologized for missing “a great opportunity to represent the Vietnamese-American community” and promised not to voice characters who are POC in the future.
