True, The Place Beyond The Pines is among the darkest and saddest movies in Gosling’s oeuvre. But in this bad-boy role to end all bad-boy roles, we get Gosling in arguably his most swoon-worthy performance of all. Similar to his character in Drive, Luke Glanton is willing to break the law in order to take care of the people he loves. But this might be the only movie in which Gosling sports a face tattoo — and honestly, he’s doing it a favor.
Gosling was so swoon-worthy in this movie, his co-star Eva Mendes fell in love with him. More than a decade later, they’re still together and have two children.
