Halloween

As one of the premiere genre festivals in the nation, it was Beyond Fest’s duty to highlight the hotly anticipated new Halloween film coming from director David Gordon Green and writer Danny McBride. Before you view the new version of Halloween, in which Jaimee Lee Curtis returns to the franchise to clash with her psychotic serial killer brother, you’ll get a chance to see the one that started it all, the 1978 original, as well as the one that really started it all, 1974’s Black Christmas, which is often cited as one of the very first slasher films. Both Green and McBride have cited Black Christmas as one of their primary influences for their new film, in addition to John Carpenter’s seminal 1978 classic. For this year’s festival, Beyond Fest has scheduled a marathon triple feature with the original Halloween, the 2018 continuation, and Black Christmas.
