Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most respected and bankable of all actors — but he’ll still drop everything and make an animal attack movie, and we love that.

Snakes on a Plane is exactly what it sounds like. The delightful setup is that a gang boss arranges to have many, many deadly snakes time released from the cargo hold mid-flight between Honolulu and Los Angeles to keep a witness from testifying. Which is all a terrific excuse for creative set pieces involving the Mile High Club, falling oxygen masks, a cat, and more.

In addition to some convincing CGI, the film enlisted more than 450 snakes and 30 different species. They generously shared the screen with a fun cast that includes Julianna Margulies, Bobby Cannavale and Kenan Thompson.

Snakes on a Plane is a fun way to pass 106 minutes. As long as you aren’t on a plane.
