Vpype, a social networking company that allows Facebook users to communicate in real time via video, has announced the Hollywood Vpype Pitch Contest. The contest, which runs from February 23 to April 15, gives Facebook users the chance to create a five-minute screenplay pitch to be posted on Facebook and judged by industry professionals.

“The revolutionary Vpype broadcasting technology connects creative minds from around the country and provides aspiring screenwriters with the invaluable opportunity to get their script in front of an elite group of studio decision-makers,” says contest host Julie Richardson, one of the producers of the 2004 film Collateral.

Professionals from Fox and MGM and other companies will review the pitches and then choose 10 finalists. The finalists, to be announced on April 26, will participate in a live pitching event to be held on May 1. The panel of judges will provide live feedback to each of the 10 finalists, and the grand prize winner will receive a free consultation with a professional script consultant. Other prizes include Final Draft version 8 screenwriting software.
