Don’t be afraid to take control.

I’ve always thought that editing makes you a better shooter and
vice versa. If you can come in and edit, you’ll learn a lot about
your shooting. And if you shoot a lot, it will make you a better
editor also. So don’t be afraid to do both.

Digital paves the way for auteurism.

[With digital,] more people are becoming true auteurs in the fact
that they will write, direct, shoot and even edit their work. Robert
Rodriguez is probably one of the more famous examples of this.

You can be obsessive-compulsive.

One moviemaker I worked with spent about a day on one effect,
trying to get it right. The ability to really be able to be obsessive-compulsive
about things and not have it cost you an arm and a leg is one great
digital benefit.
