After Caesar’s death, Cleopatra realized she needed another Roman ally in order to keep Egypt in a position of power. So, she formed a relationship with Caesar’s good friend, Mark Antony — one Roman senator who was not part of the conspiracy to murder Caesar.
Mark Antony and Cleopatra eventually got married, and together, they had three children: twins named Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene, and another son, on whom they bestowed Cleopatra’s family name, naming him Ptolemy Philadelphus.
The famous story of Mark Antony and Cleopatra’s love has lived on through the ages, more than 2000 years after their deaths.
