Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga continues to generate revenue and buzz for all parties involved. Fandango, the online movie ticketing site, announced that 75 percent of its current ticket sales are for New Moon, the latest installment of the series, which opens nationwide on November 20 at midnight.

Fandango first released tickets for New Moon on August 31, and Fandango’s chief operating officer Rick Butler predicts, “New Moon is tracking to be Fandango’s number one top advance ticket-seller of all time.” If this holds true, New Moon will bump Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith (2005) from the top spot. New Moon currently holds the number four spot in Fandango’s advanced ticket sale history and has already topped the first movie in the series, Twilight, which holds the fifth spot. Although many of the midnight shows are sold out, Fandango reports that theaters continue to add showtimes.

In order to better understand the frenzy and popularity of the latest installment of the series, Fandango polled 2,000 New Moon ticket buyers and 55 percent of the purchasers attributed the increase in ticket sales of New Moon to the fact that “the Twilight movie inspired them to read all the books by Stephenie Meyer.”

In conjunction with the upcoming release of New Moon, Fandango is releasing limited edition New Moon gift cards. The gift cards will feature pictures of Bella, Edward, Jacob and the Wolf Gang. More information is available at http://www.fandango.com/Twilightgifts.
