Plush hits On Demand and DVD today, and MovieMaker‘s got an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip featuring actress Emily Browning and director Catherine Hardwicke.
Browning, of Sucker Punch and Sleeping Beauty fame, steps into the shoes of a rock star whose love affair with a bandmate takes a turn for the frightening in this erotic thriller. While the Australian actress has showed off her vocal talents in the past (remember the sad, eerie Eurythmics cover that opened Sucker Punch?), her role in Plush puts music front and center in her performance. “Finding that rock persona is really the biggest challenge for me,” the actress explains in the video – but it looks like she finds a way to channel her porcelain-doll fragility into a convincing onstage presence (in the vein, we imagine, of other angelic blonde rock goddesses like Cherie Currie and Debbie Harry).
Official Synopsis: After losing her band mate and brother to a drug overdose, rising rock star Hayley finds herself in a downward spiral. The new album from her band Plush is received as a critical and commercial disaster. She finds new hope and friendship in Enzo, the replacement guitarist who inspires her to reach new creative heights. But soon their collaboration crosses the line and Hayley, who is married with two children, retreats from Enzo’s advances. As Hayley slowly discovers Enzo’s dark and troubled history, she realizes she may have let a madman into her home and that her mistake may cost the lives of people closest to her.
Plush was produced by Hardwicke herself, Jason Blum and Sherryl Clark, and stars Browning, Cam Gigandet, Xavier Samuel and Frances Fisher. Millennium Entertainment releases the film on DVD and On Demand October 15, 2013. MM
