In 2015, this steamy book adaptation was the hottest discussion topic around. Dakota Johnson stars as literature major Anastasia Steele opposite Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, a powerful businessman who brings her into his dark world.
But the onscreen relationship between Johnson and Grey was undoubtedly a little stiff, and the scenes in Grey’s infamous “playroom” were more awkward than anything.
Critics weren’t crazy about the film, either — it earned 25% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and just a 41% Audience Score. Yet it was still successful enough to spark two sequels.
