Postcards from Colombia: The Making of Josef Wladyka’s Manos Sucias

4. Pre-Production

The first order of business in pre-production was getting the lead cast locked down. This film wouldn’t have been possible without an amazing twist of fate: Buenaventura boasts an amazing dramatic arts program at the local university. All three of the main actors studied at this theater school under the tutelage of our casting director Manuel Viveros. Pictured here from left to right are Cristian Advincula (Delio), Manuel David Riascos (Jorge) and Jarlín Martinez (Jacobo), with me—suffering from the heat and humidity—in the background. These actors are super talented and fearless.
