Video post-production service Light Iron has hired Andy Kaplan and Peter Lin to join the management team.

Kaplan will serve as senior vice president of operations while Lin will serve as director of finance. The post-production and creative service, which is part of Panavision’s offerings for content creators, announced the addition of the two post-production industry veterans on Tuesday. Kaplan and Lin will report to Seth Hallen, managing director at Light Iron, and will work out of the company’s Los Angeles facility.

Some of Light Iron’s service offerings include in-facility and near-set dailies options; offline editorial rentals; 4K, 6K and 8K color, finishing and mastering for SDR and HDR; and cloud-based media archiving. They also offer remote services to connect content creators with other collaborators all over the world.

In his new role, Andy Kaplan will oversee all of Light Iron’s operations and services, including dailies, offline rentals, and final color. His previous work experience includes serving as the vice president of picture operations at Picture Shop and Technicolor, and before that, he served as head of production at Company 3. The skills he brings to Light Iron include a deep knowledge of the industry and well-established relationships with artists, clients and other professionals throughout the post-production industry.

“Light Iron has been an extremely exciting company to watch over the years,” Kaplan said in a statement. “They’ve held onto their nimbleness even as they’ve grown, evidenced during the pandemic as they quickly expanded their remote capabilities to meet clients’ needs with a wide range of flexible workflows. I’m very excited to join this team and help the company continue to innovate across all of our service offerings.”

In his role as director of finance at Light Iron, Peter Lin will head up all of the company’s financial processes and will work closely with the Panavision team as a liaison between the two brands. His past experience includes senior finance roles at Company 3 and Deluxe Entertainment Services Group. Lin comes to Light Iron with a deep understanding of the post-production industry.

“This is such an exciting company to be part of,” Lin said. “Light Iron’s physical footprint across North America and global reach through our remote service offerings are further strengthened by our connection to Panavision’s worldwide operations. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bolster our financial processes and reinforce the efficiencies between Light Iron and Panavision.”

Managing director Seth Hallen is glad to welcome Kaplan and Lin to the Light Iron team.

“Light Iron continues to grow and evolve while staying true to our origins as an innovative, forward-looking post provider,” Hallen said. “Andy and Peter round out our management team and bring their deep knowledge, experience and passion to the table, fortifying our commitment to delivering best-in-class services to our customers around the globe. We’re better positioned than ever to navigate the new normal of this very busy production market and continue leading the way post production will evolve into the future.”
