Jonah Hill has a super awkward future in-law talk with Eddie Murphy and Nia Long in the trailer for You People, the new culture-clashing romantic comedy from Kenya Barris.

Following the story of a bi-racial coupling between a Jewish man (Hill) and a Black woman from a Muslim family (Lauren London), things get uncomfortable fast when the two try to introduce their families.

“It is so nice to meet you guys. What’s going on? Tell me about life. How are you? How’s work?” Hill asks a skeptical Murphy and Long as they sit across from each other at a restaurant.

“This is your white granddaddy come back to haunt me,” Murphy jokes.

Murphy’s character cuts right to the chase, asking if Hill’s character is asking to marry his daughter. When the answer comes back as a yes, Murphy lays it all out on the table.

“Well Ezra, you can try,” he says.

Written by Hill and Barris and also featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny as Hill’s parents, You People arrives Jan. 27 on Netflix.

When it comes time for Hill’s prospective fiancée Amira, played by Lauren London, to meet Hill’s family, things go about as well as you’d expect.

“I think the police are f—-d up towards Black people,” Louis-Dreyfus’ character says, to which Hill immediately rolls his eyes.

By the end of the trailer, things are starting to look doubtful between the once-happy couple.

“Your family, my family — I don’t know how this is going to work,” London says.

Here’s hoping the two can find a way to make things work despite their cultural differences.
