Because a story told in VR is “autonomous,” Brillhart said, “it’s not ours (ie: filmmakers) to control anymore. But do we, as filmmakers lose control completely? No, but we do need to understand it in a new way.” According to Brillhart (further detailed in her writing in Medium), think and speak different as you work in VR. Instead of a “frame,” you are working with a “world” and your “viewers” as “visitors” and “VR worlds are reactive to the visitor. They go into the world as an active participant,” she told the audience.
