Han Solo and Chewbacca, man. Who doesn’t love a Wookiee?

Beginning with 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, Chewie is Han Solo’s co-pilot on the Millennium Falcon. The friendship between Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Peter Mayhew’s Chewie transcends the limits of space and time. Together, they fight the forces of evil and the Galactic Empire, fly planes, and just generally do awesome stuff.

Their friendship endured through many decades. It’s so wholesome, no words need to be exchanged between them — because Chewie just makes noises in his throat, anyway. But he definitely shares the sentiment. They were last seen fighting together in 2015’s The Force Awakens, and well, you know what happens in that one.

“The character is basically a teddy bear,” Mayhew once said of Chewie.

After Mayhew’s death in 2019, Ford remembered him as “a really sweet man,” according to EW.
