Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly are a beloved and iconic movie duo for a reason.

Perhaps it’s because the journey they go on together is so wholesome. Perhaps its because Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox are such good actors. Or maybe it’s because the wizard-like old man and young hero archetypes make such a good pairing — like Dumbledore and Harry Potter or Gandalf and Frodo.

Any of those combos could have made this list, but Doc and Marty are as iconic as any of them.
