Hannibal Lecter was a charming and educated man that helped Clarice battle her own demons and catch a serial killer. He, however, was a violent and sadistic serial killer himself. Again, audiences were attracted to him because of the curiosity of getting behind the mask of a serial killer. Anthony Hopkins’ undeniable magnetism as Lecter won the Welsh actor an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
